Fire Safety in Oklahoma

Every year we are reminded that we live in a state with some of the most volatile weather in the country. Inevitably there will be times, like last year, that we have 21 straight days of rain. Still other times we'll go a month without seeing any precipitation and the entire state will be in a fire watch.

One idea, aimed at reducing fire danger, is being proposed by a state lawmaker. The legislation he has proposed would call for cigarette paper that burns out easily to be for every cigarette sold in Oklahoma. We want to know what you think of this idea and others that would affect public safety.

What's your agenda?

As we enter 2008, we are reminded all that Oklahoma accomplished in 2007. We at 100 Ideas believe that one of the greatest things accomplished in our centennial year was the creation of a blueprint, for Oklahoma, by Oklahomans.

Right now, Democrats and Republicans are forming their gameplans for the upcoming legislative session. We want to know what you think should be on it? What legislaton or policies to you want to see changed? Let us know by submitting your ideas at http://www.100ideasok.org/.

Happy New Year!

We at 100 Ideas would like to wish you a Happy New Year!

As many of you know, the most pressing issue of 2008 will be the election cycle. In keeping with tradition, the Iowa caucuses, the first time either party's delegates were decided from any state, were held yesterday. We would like to know what your ideas are concerning the primary season. Would you like Oklahoma to become an early state, or do you think we should stay a "Super Tuesday" state? Please send us your ideas on election reform today!

Nuclear Power

The state of Oklahoma, like many other states, is evaluating different options when discussing how best to produce power in the future. One idea that continues to rise to the forefront of this debate is nuclear energy. Countries like France get a majority of their power from nuclear energy. Many argue that it is safer than it was, and is cleaner than fossil fuels. We want to know what you think. Send us your ideas on Nuclear Energy and on Energy Policies today!

Over the course of this year, we at 100 Ideas have received a wide variety of ideas. One recurring idea was to amend the parole process. Many complained that it was an antiquated system, or that it was wasteful, or unjust. Most solutions ranged from removing gubernatorial oversight to the process to adjusting punishments to fit their crimes. We want to know what you think! Energy Policies

As we continue through 2007, one major concern has continued all this year as it did all last year: what are we going to do about oil? As oil prices have steadily risen over the last 2 years to record heights, we have begun to see the strains of it on our economy. The energy industry, however, is vital to Oklahoma now as it was a century ago. What do you think would be best for Oklahoma? Send us your ideas on energy today at http://www.100ideasok.com/!
